Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum is able to identify coastal issues through its involvement with a number of activities. Here are just a few of them.
THE
MARINE CODE
Boat operators across the county have been taking part in the trial
of a newly devised marine code for Pembrokeshire.
Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum have co-ordinated the scheme, which has
been compiled by the boat operators themselves.
All the wildlife trip- and dive charter boat-operators in the county
are following a set of guidelines which aim to minimise the disturbance
to wildlife on popular marine tourist trails.
There are codes of conduct for seals, dolphins, whales, porpoises and
sea birds, zoning maps for the most sensitive sites, and guidance on
other marine species such as turtles, basking sharks and sunfish.
This Marine Code will be reviewed over the winter, and formalised for
the start of the next season.
PEMBROKESHIRE
OUTDOOR CHARTER GROUP
The Outdoor Charter Group brings together a number of organisations
to work in partnership and develop outdoor activities in a sustainable
manner, ensuring the protection of the natural environment. Pembrokeshire
Coastal Forum is providing the main contact for this project at present.
KEEP
WALES TIDY CAMPAIGN
As a member of the steering group Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum actively
support the work of the Keep Wales Tidy Campaign. There are two specific
projects which relate to Forum work.
The Coast Care Project: This encourages groups and individuals to get actively involved in coastal management through adopting local beaches and focussing on their ongoing care.
Green Coast: This focuses on the sensitive environmental management of rural beaches with good water quality.
Both projects aid in ensuring the Pembrokeshire Coast is sustainably managed, therefore meeting the aims of Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum.
COASTAL
SURGERIES
Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum hold these on a regular basis at different
locations around Pembrokeshire. This gives anyone the chance to come
and see the team for an informal chat about any coastal issue or concern.
