The Crown Estate-Caird Research Fellowship
2,000 per month, for three months.
In partnership with The Crown Estate, the National Maritime Museum invites applications for a jointly-funded short-term research fellowship for 2007.
The collections of the National Maritime Museum enjoy an international reputation. The Museum is committed to encouraging high-quality research on the collections and related maritime subjects.
The Museum and The Crown Estate are particularly keen to receive proposals that explore the physical evolution of the coastline of East Anglia and its river estuaries. This is an area of rapid and complex coastline evolution, which is reflected in the need for dynamic and effective resource management programmes. The aim of the Fellowship is to put the current environmental changes within historical contexts, using a range of historical as well as contemporary resources. This Fellowship will provide a unique opportunity for research that combines historical collections and contemporary resources to understand our marine environment today and to help inform current and developing policy and management decisions.
Candidates with a proven record in the fields of marine geography or environmental science, or those with cognate research interests in historical geography and environmental history, are encouraged to apply.
The Fellowship will be tenable from January 2007. A part-time arrangement over a longer duration may be possible.
