Adventure Smart Wales Toolkit for Tourism Businesses

A free toolkit has been launched by Adventure Smart Wales which offers easy access to information and resources to help tourism businesses promote safe enjoyment of the outdoors.

Adventure Smart Wales is a collaboration between partners from across the country brought together to promote a simple message: get out and enjoy the great Welsh outdoors but make sure you plan ahead and stay safe.

The online business toolkit is free to access and has been designed to make it as easy as possible for tourism businesses to share the range of messages which have been designed to keep people safe and comfortable. Resources include videos, posters and social media images, as well as ideas of how and when to use them. The Adventure Smart Wales team hope that by providing a few key pieces of advice to customers, unnecessary incidents can be avoided and businesses can shift towards safe and sustainable outdoor recreation.

The business toolkit can be found on the Adventure Smart Wales website here.

Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum (PCF) is one of the partners in the scheme and has led on the development of this toolkit. PCF is a Community Interest Company managing a range of marine related projects, including the Outdoor Charter Group which promotes the sustainable use of Pembrokeshire’s landscapes for recreational and leisure activities.

Launched in May, Adventure Smart Wales is a 2-year project, part-funded via the Welsh Government’s Tourism Product Innovation Fund. Lord Elis-Thomas, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Sport, said: “I’m delighted that we’ve been able to support this important project which enables partners to work together to raise awareness of the importance of being properly prepared for the great outdoors. A little preparation can go a long way in making an adventure safe, reduce the burden on our rescue services – and make an adventure memorable for the right reasons.”
