Placements are a common way for young people to gain work experience in the coastal sector and access employment. PCF CIC has hosted students for one-month work experiences or longer placements that contribute to their areas of study for a number of years.
The countryside and coast are some of the least diverse areas of employment in the UK. We think it is important that everyone who wants to can take opportunities to enjoy or work at the coast is able to.
We wanted to get advice on how to improve the Ethnic Diversity of people taking up placements with PCF.
Represent Us (Ltd) is an organisation based in Ammanford. They were able to provide PCF with advice and examples of ways we could become a more supportive organisation for people from ethnic minorities looking to find work in the sector. Represent Us (Ltd) also gave guidance on how we can contribute to actions that will make the coast and countryside more welcoming places for people from a wider range of backgrounds.
We are aware that many organisations around the coast of Wales face similar challenges and we are happy to share the Toolkit that they have produced for us.
We are early on in our journey towards a diverse workforce, please do join us!
