Wildlife Trust Island’s Storm Appeal
Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum were delighted to be able to raise £500 for the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales’s Island’s Storm Appeal and earlier this week met with the Wildlife Trust team at Martin’s Haven for a cheque handover.
£250 was donated by the audience of our “A View on Wildlife” event held in October at the Torch Theatre, and PCF decided to match this amount using profits raised from the sales of our Marine Code Tide Tables over the last year.
The appeal was launched following Storms Ophelia and Brian which wreaked havoc on Skomer and Skokholm Islands. The funds raised by members of the public for our Islands Storm Appeal will go towards the following:
- Monitor the impacts on Seals and seabirds
- Develop a protocol for dealing with seabird wrecks
- Repair the immediate storm damage
- Storm-proof the Islands for the future
- Buy new, essential equipment
Rebecca Vincent, Marketing and Communications Officer for The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales said, “We would like to thank all those who attended Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum’s ‘A View on Wildlife’ event and donated, along with Pembrokeshire Coastal forum for matching their donation and kindly giving £500 towards our Islands Storm Appeal. We have had such an overwhelming response and would like to deeply thank everyone who donated and supported the appeal.”
Our 2018 tide tables are now available and profits raised will continue to go towards protecting Pembrokeshire’s wildlife.
